How to fight corruption. a working discussion in Lori Province

The Corruption Prevention Commission with the USAID Armenia Integrity Project continues to hold discussion-format working meetings in the regions of the Republic of Armenia with the participation of employees of local self-government bodies and regional governors.

On October 20, representatives of the Commission visited Lori region of RA. In the regional center of Vanadzor, the employees of the Commission presented information on the main directions of the RA government's anti-corruption policy, the institutional system of fighting corruption, the implementation of the integrity system, the activities of the Commission, the works and programs carried out in the fight against corruption.

The speakers referred to the elements of the integrity system, which are the principles of behavior of public officials and civil servants, the rules of conduct arising from them, the requirements of incompatibility, other restrictions, the conflict of interests, the prohibition of accepting gifts during the performance of official duties. Details regarding the legislative field and the actions carried out by the Commission, as well as statistical data were presented.

Reference was made to the frequently asked questions, which mainly related to incompatibility requirements and conflict of interests.

The participants presented various situations, expressing their desire to hear the position of the Commission regarding them, and what steps should be taken to solve the given situation. Mandatory and encouraged rules laid down in the Model Code of Conduct were also discussed.

The participants of the meeting proposed to further provide wider opportunities to persons holding public positions and public servants, such as paid work, for example.
