United States Agency for International Development intends to support the prevention of corruption more actively in Armenia

Mission Director of USAID/Armenia John Allelo, Director of the Office of Democracy and Governance Adam Stephan and Head of Programs Anahit Khachatryan were hosted at the office of the RA Corruption Prevention Commission on July 29, 2021.

Getting acquainted with the upcoming plans of the Commission they expressed their willingness to continue and expand further cooperation, to provide the necessary support to the Commission by increasing support for systemic reforms.

The Chairwoman of the Commission Haykuhi Harutyunyan and the Member of the Commission Lilit Aleksanyan highlighted the role of the United States Agency for International Development in the fight against corruption in Armenia. They exchanged thoughts on expanding the directions of further cooperation, emphasizing the issues related to the control of political parties’ financing, the implementation of the system of integrity among public servants, the improvement of the system of declaration of officials, the raising of public awareness among citizens, and the implementation of educational programs.

Mission Director of USAID/Armenia John Allelo noted that the presented directions are important and USAID will continue to provide active support in order to achieve success in these areas.

USAID/ Director of the Office of Democracy and Governance Adam Stephan emphasized the cooperation with the Commission for about one and a half years and expressed hope that there will be tangible results.

They have agreed to make such working discussions regular. At future meetings, not only the goals but also the works and results will be presented.
