On February 19, staff members of the Corruption Prevention Commission participated in an interactive workshop on “Artificial Intelligence and Corruption Prevention,” organized in collaboration with the Folke Bernadotte Academy (FBA) and the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES).
During the workshop, participants were presented with the impact of artificial intelligence on the information environment and democratic processes, tools for monitoring political parties’ media expenditures, methods for analyzing asset values, and mechanisms for detecting potential cases of illicit enrichment. The risks and possible consequences of AI-generated content were also discussed, emphasizing the need to strengthen not only technical but also institutional mechanisms in managing these processes.
During the workshop, the Commission’s staff addressed the procedures for collecting and processing data used in the analysis of political parties’ financial reports, the mechanisms for ongoing monitoring, as well as the available information repositories and technical capacities.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants discussed the potential applications of artificial intelligence, priority areas for its development, and the next steps to be taken.
