The Commission on Ethics of High-Ranking Officials had a working meeting with the President of the Republic. Siranush Sahakyan, the Chairperson of the Commission on Ethics of High-Ranking Officials of Armenia, presented the works implemented during the past years by the Commission, the main achievements and problems, as well as the measures to be taken towards their solution. Particularly, the President of the Republic of Armenia was reported, that the Commission on Ethics of High-Ranking Officials, among other measures, has launched the analysis component of the electronic declaration system, within which the Commission’s online access to the separate databases has been ensured, the registry of declarant official has been substantially enlarged, as well as a number of legislative recommendation directed at the improvement of the electronic declaration system have been elaborated and presented to the discussion of the respective state authorities. The implementation process of the activities dictated by the amendments made to the RA Law on “Public Service” in 2017 was discussed during the meeting. The President of the Republic attached importance to the creation of the necessary prerequisites to ensure the effective functioning of the Corruption Prevention Commission to be established in 2018 within the anti-corruption reforms. President Sargsyan highlighted the necessity of the improvement of the conflict of interests legislation provision, definition of the legal regulations, upgrading of the current electronic declaration system for interest declaration, insurance of the continuation of the works directed at the connection of the electronic databases, as well as the practical exercise of the new authority vested to the Commission to analyze and verify declarations.
