On the occasion of the International Anti-corruption Day, the next release of the “Public Discussion” program was broadcast on First Channel News was dedicated to the prevention of corruption in Armenia and the upcoming activities.
Haykuhi Harutyunyan, the Chairwoman of the Commission, Yeranuhi Tumanyants, Deputy Minister of Justice, Arthur Sakunts, Head of the Helsinki Citizens’ Assembly-Vanadzor and Daniel Ioannisyan, Program Coordinator of the Union of Informed Citizens NGO were hosted by First Channel News.
In her speech, Haykuhi Harutyunyan noted that bribery has been significantly reduced in volume, which is visible among the citizens and is often talked about. She also added that loving the state should be expressed without stealing, giving priority to the interests of the state.
The priorities and achievements of corruption prevention and anti-corruption policy were presented by the Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia. She noted that the anti-corruption reform package included a fourfold increase in the salaries of law enforcement officers investigating anti-corruption cases.
Representatives of civil society in their turn noted the visible progress in this area at the same time pointing out the existing shortcomings.
